Spring Cleaning The Kitchen

eti forwared me a couple of links she thought i would like. i more than liked them. i'm addicted to them. showed them to hubby and told him i want to do this, i want to buy that, i want to get this, i want to start that...

so this morning, with a notebook in one hand, the camera in the other, i went around the house to see what needs to be done. my first stop and i made up my mind. god...how buruk is my kitchen!

that's my first target. i love how becky organised her kitchen, the way she labelled her spices and medication and arranged her books. when i made the kitchen cabinets, i requested for book shelves. unfortunately its not at the best of positions at the moment. i went through amir's phase of arranging mummy's books, i'm going though asyraf's phase of arranging mummy's books and i'll go through ariff's phase of arranging mummy's books.

i wanted to label my spice jars and containers since 2 years ago, when i was a sahm and spent hours in the kitchen, but i never got round to actually doing it. then when we had to concentrate on asyraf, i totally neglected my kitchen and all the spices that have gone past their best-before date. now i'm getting back my cooking mood and i feel like buying every single mccormick spice ever produced.

i have quite a bit of space & drawers but i cant seem to organise my things properly. i should have made the slots for plates and cups instead of keeping them in the drawers. i know i dont like the way i arrance my mugs.

the drawers on my island contains everything needed for cooking and baking, all stored within easy reach. they are in desperate need of cleaning and rearraging.

same goes to the cabinet i store the cookies, bread, rice and other dry ingredients. i really need to hose them down. i requested for a special tv storage place but the tv has been moved to the boys' room so its currently bare.

so i pujuk-ed hubby to take a day off soon (i cant do it on my own - no drive) and we'll tackle the back of the house together; me doing the kitchen and him doing the maid's room, which we will will converting into a store room (since we wont be having a live-in maid anytime soon).

my next project (hopefully to start next month) is the boys room. that's another entry altogether.

hi there..bloghopped over from someone's blog..i really like urs, here, even though i've only become a silent reader for a couple of days :-)

that kitchen is sooo neat and clean, it puts mine to shame! seriously I can't imagine how much nicer it's going to look after you 'spring clean!' :-D

btw, i think i once saw ur wedding picture in Pengantin magazine, like way back in 2004 before my wedding in 2005...

syerah...sama lah kita kecik2. cabiet2 yg tinggi semua tak terusik. berhabuk...

tiza...if u not there anymore, take lah the separators for me to use. bottles semua i got already, just waiting to label them.

maria...tu semua ada dlm drawer utk menolong on weekdays. balik tak sempat nak masak, ada 2 minutes je nak buat maggi :)

normal...if u do a kitchen like mine, tone down on the island. we kinda regret having an island so big. mula2 best having that big a counter, but in the end feels that its menyemak & takes up too much space.

mdr...i censored the pictures that show my real kitchen, the dust, the lipas, the fingerprints, the cookie crumbs. that's why it "looks" neat and clean. yeah, that was us in the 2004 pengantin (july edition i think)

aaahh yes...the lipas...
i remember it all too well...

me screaming like mad when i saw the evil little thing...
amir screaming like mad coz i screamed like mad...
hahaha...

laaaa...if u told me sooner, can take...
but now got tenant already...

Kitchen cabinets are something you use every day, yet you probably never take the time to appreciate them. They seem simple enough, but there is actually more than plenty involved behind the scenes. There are many things to consider regarding kitchen cabinet refacing, cabinets materials, finishes, door designs, and even information on hardware. http://kitchen-cabinet-refacing-design.blogspot.compkx
