2015 has a lot of long weekends as quite a number of public holidays fall on sundays. add to that, there are some holidays that fall on the other side of the weekend making it a 4-weekend. i think there's about 3 of those this year. the first was the weekend of federal territory and thaipusam holiday. ok, so federal territory day does not apply to us living in the neighboring state but i'm celebrating it anywho as i'm a born and bred KL girl. plus with 6 less uniforms to iron, who wouldn't want declare it a holiday.
we were all out and about on those four days. the boys had a weekend full of football, hubby had a weekend full of football although his was in jakarta and the boys' football weekend was at home. but still…my laundry for the first 2 days was full of nikes and adidas and pumas. once hubby returned from jakarta the boys dragged him for a round of kick-a-bout which lasted 2 hours.
the next day, after weeks of requesting, we took the boys for a walk around the neighbourhood. we walked for 3kms from home to d'bayu. amir, akmal and asyraf jogged half of the way. amir was happy he got to take the same route his schoolmates took on the school run he missed 2 weeks back. ariff was whining from start to finish.
the plan was to take one route to the shops, have breakfast and walk back another route. while having breakfast ariff was spurting out so many ideas - send him to his teacher's house, call my sister, leave him at the shop, call a taxi home - because he refused to walk back. everyone else were giving him the evil eye because they were all looking forward to the morning walk. in the end we gave in to ariff's request and took a taxi home. thanks ariff!
when we got home, it was again football all the way. the boys played in the hot sun from lunchtime to dinnertime, its surprising they didn't come in all tanned.
on tuesday, the boys followed hubby for their weekly futsal game. usually its on sundays but they moved it to tuesday. i finally had some time to myself which i spent slaving over (ok, exaggeration) the stove.

DP#21 (28/09/2013) Majlis Doa Selamat
alhamdulillah, six weeks after our move to DP, we had our majlis doa selamat. it was late, yes, but we moved in immediately after hari raya aidilfitri, weekends in syawal was packed. we arranged for the earliest saturday after syawal with the imam of the nearby mosque. we only invited a few people over, my parents, the neighbors on the same street and a few of hubby's friends. we called on the students from the tahfiz school at the old mosque to make it a more memorable event.
in the morning we cleared the furniture in the living room, waited for the caterer, hubby prepared some angpau for the tahfiz students and arranged for a bus to pick them up from the mosque and send them back after. it didnt rain, even though it had been raining for a few days before that. food was excellent and we had no wastage.
the majlis was short and sweet and went very well, alhamdulillah.
i ordered specially printed surah yassin, which coincidently matched the canopy the caterer prepared.
we're planning a housewarming for family and friends in a couple of weeks, insyaAllah.

Teddy Bear Picnic
one fine day, all of the sudden, i felt like taking the boys for a picnic. i have friends left right and centre taking their children for picnics all the time but we have not reached that level. with 4 boys in tow, all so young and needs constant monitoring, going for a picnic isnt the best idea. going to the beach, per se, is not bad. we can look out for them. but with other activities, many many things to look after, well…just not yet.
then when our dentist called to postpone the boys’ check up, i got the idea of going for a picnic. i surfed for a good place to go, a park, lake, waterfall, beach and finally decided on bagan lalang. not too far, reviews about the beach not too bad. i informed hubby of my idea and he loved it. then we roped in tiza and tisu.
tiza and i planned the menu. i prepared sandwiches – sardine and cheese, bought cakes, drinks while tiza got the silvers poons chef to make nasi goreng daging cincang for us. we also decided on nuggets, which i prepared the morning itself.
we decided to start the day early, leave after subuh, get there early and leave by lunchtime before it gets too hot. we were a bit behind schedule, we left around 745am. there was the boys to take care off, tiza and tisu to get ready, the nuggets to fry, the nasi goreng to warm up. so our 7am became 745am. but traffic was on our side all the way and we got to the beach before 9am. wonderful!
the day was great - not too sunny, right amount of clouds, nice wind. we followed the sign and it took us to the camping site. everyone’s tummy wanted to stop there but we weren’t too happy. there was just bricks everywhere. not really beach-y. but we stopped and had breakfast anyway. i thought there must be another place, this cant be the beach people were talking about. we sat and had breakfast on a bench and table for crying out loud. so much for picnic by the beach.

after the tummies were fed, we decided to drive around to look for the actual beach. didn’t take long, a 2 minutes drive took us to the other side of the sepang gold coast resort to a proper beach. it was still quiet at 930am. we parked and took out the foodstuff yet again, this time with the mat and the boys clothes. aahhh…now that’s better. we sat for a bit, arranging ourselves on the small mat, before the boys started to get antsy. so we took them for a stroll, which later became a full blown swimming, by the beach.
an hour of frolicking topped off with an ice cream session, then a quick shower and a warning by asyraf ‘mummy…lepas ni kita nak balik, main puzzle lepas tu kita nak tido’ spells the end of our morning by the beach. all in all it was great. we drove out to a beach, had a lovely time, ate quite a bit, tire the boys out and were home before zohor.

nice start to the weekend. should do this again, maybe this time slightly further away.
